Stoke Rochford Hall is an impressive Victorian mansion set in formal landscaped gardens and 28 acres of parkland. It can be found just off the A1 near Grantham in Lincolnshire. Not only is it a fantastic wedding location, the grounds and interior provide the perfect backdrops for stunning wedding photography.
Over the years I’ve photographed weddings at many different locations. Some good, some alright, and some that are an absolute pleasure. As a wedding photographer, what you ultimately hope for is an impressive interior and mature gardens or parkland to act as backdrops. A stunning building is always a bonus.

From a photographer’s point of view Stoke Rochford Hall provides the ideal setting for wedding photography in all seasons, and indeed almost all weather conditions. The gardens are a photographer’s dream, and the interior is equally impressive for indoor photography.
The Grand Hall at the centre of the building features a carved stone chimney piece provides a comfortable and atmospheric area to relax. Despite its size the room is cosy, and large windows and also plenty of places to take photos. The Grand Hall leads of to the Turnor and Rochford Rooms, the Oak Room, the library and the Orangery. All five of these rooms offer a varity of options for wedding photography.
Wedding ceremonies take place in the orangery and the room benefits from almost as much light as being outdoors. Everyone would love bright sunshine on their wedding day, but the Orangery, lined with windows and a glass ceiling, is perfect for group shots when the weather isn’t as good as it could be. It’s exactly where I took group shots when I photographed a wedding there in changeable conditions.
